CORREGIDOR ISLAND, CAVITE – Going back here made me remember my college days. We had our field trip here for my KAS 1 (History 1) subject. I also made a term paper on ecotourism for Corregidor as a requirement for a class on project management.
In that sense, revisiting this historical landmark had become more meaningful.
It was a company outing hence no harm done on the wallet. Yehey to free travels! This includes an overnight stay on the island plus a teambuilding activity. It was truly World War II adventures on Corregidor Island.
It is Sun Cruises Philippines, Inc. that handles all tour packages and hotel accommodation on the island.
The No. 1 hotel on Corregidor
Better be an hour early before the departure time in Sun Cruises’ terminal. A sticker indicating the seat assignment will be given to passengers. In most cases, the crossing of the Manila Bay is calm and will only take about 30 minutes or so.
Corregidor Inn is the only hotel on the island. Camping in designated campsites is an option but this still needs to be arranged with Sun Cruises.
Tripadvisor review here. In short, the place is average. It needs renovation especially the bathroom area. But no ghosts during our stay.
There is nothing special with the buffet food. There could be one dish that you will love and rest are mostly ordinary Filipino food. This dining place is also open to daytrippers so it could really get crowded. One weird scenario was when we decided to eat lunch early and we were told to wait for the tour group to finish. Of course, we didn’t agree.
We had as well a dinner party beside the beach. A small bonfire was lit. It could have been a really nice experience if marshmallows and hotdogs were served for roasting over the fire.

The Inn’s swimming pool is quite large. I felt it was also not well-maintained and the area was not well lit. It was however, a good venue to continue the fun with your colleagues. I did some laps here. You need to go through the front entrance of the Inn if you want to go back, so good thing that it was already late night when we did this.
Corregidor Adventure Teambuilding
I will not spoil this for you. I can only say that it was really awesome. What I really appreciated with this activity was seeing the different side of Corregidor. You walk and run within the jungle forest of Corregidor. You crawl under tunnels and passages. You will do this while solving puzzles and riddles; the usual stuff for teambuilding activities that will test your communication, organizational and leadership skills.

Malinta Tunnel Night Tour
This one was awesome as well. It can get cold inside the Malinta Tunnel so better have a jacket.

Corregidor Island Day Tour
I decided not to join this tour as I have done this before. What is great about this tour is that you will appreciate the history of each building on Corregidor. This was once a fort with a thriving community and this place was the first one to be bombed and assaulted during the war. The different batteries scattered on strategic locations is the testament on the effort done by the US and Philippine governments to fortify Corregidor.
The more reason we should give honor to our veterans. This maybe too much to ask but I think every Filipino should visit Corregidor at least once.
The adventures on Corregidor Island come with some learnings from our past and inspiration on what we would like to see in the future.
